DRAIN CLOGS AND THE REASON THEY ARE NOT WARRANTIED

Many customers assume that there are warranties with drain cleaning services.

In general, most companies do not give warranties with drain cleaning.

So why is it so hard to warranty a drain clog?

Drain lines can clog for quite a few reasons ranging from improper installation, objects in the line, roots form beneath the plumbing and City main or property septic tank issues.

Here are the main reasons why drains get clogged:
-Settling of the sewer line which creates back pitch (improper flow
-Objects such as feminine products, baby wipes, paper towels, etc
-Grease and food waste
-Ground root
-Broken drain line; and more

If a plumber snakes your line, all they can do is clear what is in there at that time and bring it to the customers attention what was causing the issue.

If the drain is clogged because of a broken line, roots or improper pitch in the line, it would have to be fixed to prevent future issues. Without fixing the underlining problem

there is no way a plumber can warranty the work, especially against future clogs.

If foreign objects are cleared from the line the plumber should tell the customer what was found in the drain, however if the customer flushes the objects down again there is no way to warranty the job.

In older homes, the cast iron lines can degrade over time causing scale build-up, which will reduce the effectiveness of the drains.
Roots come back with the seasons and with water as they search out the nearest source for what they need.

When you call for a clogged drain or a cleaning, all your plumber can do is clear it for the day. Once the roots grow back there is nothing more that can be done other than clear the clog again or replace your sewer line.

It is not uncommon to have a plumber clear roots every spring and into summer depending on the health of the existing pipes and surrounding vegetation.
No one can know the conditions of what is underground without the action of running a camera down the line. Even then, it is not fully possible to know what will become clogged in the future due to mother nature and what a homeowner puts down the drain.
